Welcome again to my abode!
In continuation to my preceding article wherein I had mentioned about the repair of our cells which are repairable. And the ones which are beyond salvage are replaced by newly produced cells. Each cell contains myriads of machines including 3000 power plants and 10,000,000 protein manufacturing units. How does our body produce such a vast infra structure and accommodate it in a single cell?
It is beyond our imagination even attempting to comprehend.
An adult human body is made up of more than 30 trillion cells. Out of which other than those which make up our brain and heart every other cell meets their demise on regular basis having a life span of about two years. The cells which die in billions daily are promptly replaced. The new cells are formed by the cells still alive making a perfect copy of themselves including the millions of machines inside each. This process of cell division is one of the three most incredible miracles taking place in our body. The other two being…………let me not get ahead of myself, I shall introduce the other two in good time.
How do the cells die?
Many get killed by the adverse effects we suffer due to our sinful indulgences, and others become old having completed their service life, kill themselves.
What! The cells commit suicide?
You can say that. They do commit hara-kiri but not out of despondency but for the greater good of our body. Once the cells lose their efficiency significantly, instead of, they remaining in body and becoming parasites have been “programmed” to self-destruct. No sooner have they become sloths they activate this programme and rid the body of their burden. Truly altruistic disposition do they possess! All the billions of cells dying daily being replaced by new cells produced daily by the process we know as cell division.
Miraculously cells make a perfect copy of themselves along with all the paraphernalia and concomitants. The original and the copy remain inside the cell till the preparations of their division are complete. When it divides all the equipment inside it is shared equally between the two and from one cell are born two cells containing the “twins” who will be ruthlessly separated by an atrocious force for the greater good.
Just like all other processes in our body are carried out in a completely systematic way, following a specific algorithm executed to perfection, the cell division too is performed in a highly scientific manner. You want to be privy to how that happens?
Do you want to witness this unbelievable miracle too?
Then let us follow the story of cells division together.
The cell was born on a propitious day. Within few months of its birth, it entered its youth. Following the most important edict of the DIVINE, an immutable responsibility of every individual towards the UNIVERSE, to create successors, the cell’s time too came to get on the family way. It is going to copy its components meticulously, each and every of them, get pregnant and then divide.
About 36 hours before the due time for “delivery”, the cell started gobbling up the nutrients voraciously. The consumed nutrients would be utilised to fabricate a copy of all the infrastructure inside the cell including all the power plants and myriads of factories and processing plants. In about 24 to 30 hours, it had done most of the hard work and accomplished the first phase of operation. Then approached the time to duplicate the most important and invaluable of its part……the nucleus in which was safely ensconced the blue print of body’s life, the book of life………the DNA. How is the DNA duplicated is another of the greatest of miracles about which I shall write when I explore the magnificence of our DNA sometimes later in this series.
Coming back to the present, the DNA is divided into 46 parts, each of which tightly wrapped in a bundle to form chromosomes. To make a copy of the whole DNA all 46 chromosomes in each nucleus need to be duplicated with absolute accuracy. I shall take up the duplication of just one chromosome as a representative of all the 46.
When the time of duplication of the DNA arrives the tightly packed chromosome loosens up and lets the DNA open up completely before it starts getting duplicated. Then following a series of unbelievable processes (to which I shall revert to, later in this series), it miraculously gives birth to an exact copy of itself. Once the quality control team has put its stamp of approval, both of them, the original and the copy, get tightly packed again into two chromosomes resolutely holding each other like most loving brothers. They both know that the time to get separated from each other is fast approaching and in dread of that moment hold each other even tighter having a totally misplaced notion that perhaps they might be mercifully spared from separation. Both hiding in their haven, the nucleus, thinking it might turn out to be their sanctuary. How naive they truly are!
Suddenly the wall of the nucleus, their home, collapses indicating that the time of the separation of the twins is nigh. To prolong their separation, they hold each other in a tight embrace and move away from the crumbling wall to the centre of the nucleus as if this gesture might generate some mercy and just, may be, they are just spared, a hope beyond hope. Witnessing their temerity, DIVYATECH fully aware that their separation has to be affected for the greater good of the body even if IT has to harden ITS heart, comes to utilize its brute force.
What DIVYATECH does is create spindles in the two opposite walls of the cell on which are wound multiple elastic threads. The threads unroll and float towards the twins from opposite sides like claws and each claw grasps each twin in their iron grip. Just remember the threads which form the claws are attached to the respective spindles on opposite ends. Now each twin is firmly bound by the spindle threads. At this stage the spindles exert tremendous force and begin hauling the twins in opposite directions. The super brute force ultimately tearing the twins away from each other, separating them and pulling them to the opposite ends of the cells. Both now in no doubt of their separation, with leaded heart, resign to their fate and with tears in their eyes, watch each other vanish from their vision, dissolving before their eyes forever.
As soon the CHROMOSOMES arrive at their ends of the cell wall, another wall encapsulates each forming a new nucleus. Immediately thereafter a crack appears in the middle of the cell and the cell gets divided in two identical ones. One cell giving birth to two each carrying its parental legacy through its book of life, the DNA.
Heart wrenching, isn’t it?
But it is the philosophy of the DIVINE.
Sacrifices are required to be made for the greater good even if they have to be enforced.
Till date no intellectual has been able to elucidate why cell divides when it does and secondly what triggers the DNA to make a copy of itself. Not only a miracle but an incomprehensible ENIGMA.
This was the narration of duplication of cell structure, DNA, and nucleus. What happened to the millions of micro-organs, how would they be duplicated?
The manufacturing plants, the millions of them would be produced by the DNA in due course.
And what about the thousands of powerplants?
The powerplants in our body have their own DNA which is responsible for their reproduction which it does while still in the common cell before it splits.
It is the DNA which produces all the machinery in a cell and it is the DNA which manufactures all the powerplants.
What after all is DNA and why is it hyped so much?
The DNA is TRIUMVIRITE, somewhat similar in function to the TRINITY as it finds mention in the scriptures. I would throw light on this profundity in the next article.
Now the time has come to enter a more profound zone. Whenever the DNA gets damaged it repairs itself, another of the biggest of miracles. But the question is how does the DNA become aware that it has been damaged? Does it have some sort of consciousness?
The human DNA gets damaged millions of times a day. Its repairs get carried out at millions of places simultaneously. And who carries out those repairs? The DNA itself. A surgeon carrying out millions of surgeries simultaneously on himself.
